Inspirational Before and After Guestroom Redos from Bayfront Marin

Whenever we return to Bayfront Marin House in St Augustine, Florida, we know to expect fabulous room transformations from innkeepers Sandy and Mike. Their never-ending “upgrade parade” results in rooms that are fresh, airy, and visually stunning. By replacing dark, imposing canopy beds with more tailored, modern bed styles, they give their rooms a sense of openness and serenity. Their color choices are harmonious and serene–just what you want for a bedroom. Finally, their selection of varied textures provides a bit of a punch, but still subtle.

Be sure you do check out their website, it’s one of our favorites from White Stone Marketing. It’s a complicated property with rooms in various buildings around town from vacation rentals offerings to traditional B&B rooms. The White Stone folks make it easy to digest – with grace and beauty.

Room 7 (before) featured an imposing four poster, canopied bed and Victorian furniture.
Room 7 (after) now features an upholstered headboard (no footboard = more space), a wonderfully textured wall, soothing color scheme and more modern–and practical–furniture. The chandelier is the icing on the cake.
Room 5 (before) was dominated by another dark canopy bed, dictating more dark furniture, and taking up way too much space visually and literally in a modest-sized room.
Room 5 (after) without the giant bed appears SO MUCH more open and airy, and with the softer wall color, lighter furniture, and perfect light fixture choices provides a whole new experience.
Another shot of the new Room 5 (after). The anteroom provides an added sense of privacy, and allows for the display of dynamic art pieces, coordinating perfectly with the overall room decor.
Room 15 (before) featured a beautiful, but rather large bed, and a earthy color palette which did not seem to speak to the beachy location.
Room 15 (after) Removing the footboard and simplifying the color/contrast scheme makes the space more appealing–restful and spa-like.
